Burns Chevrolet 100th Anniversary Celebration
September 9, 2023
Burns Chevrolet in Gaffney, SC is celebrating their 100th year in business in 2023. The dealership embarked on a 100 days of giving campaign and they planned to top that campaign off with a 100th anniversary celebration to thank their customers and the public for their support. As a part of that celebration, they envisioned a display showcasing all 8 generations of the Corvette and they reached out to the Ridge Runner Corvettes club for help with that vision. The club polled its members and found that it could help fulfill that vision. The club ended up bringing more than 30 cars and all 8 generations to the dealership that day. There were also a couple of guest cars, a 1963 split window coupe provided by Tommy Pike and a 2023 Z06 provided by a Burns Chevrolet customer. The forecast called for rain, so Burns Chevrolet went above and beyond by allowing the club to park the earlier generation cars in the showroom and all most all of the remaining cars under the building overhang. A big surprise of the day was the unveiling of a 1954 Corvette restomod being created by Tommy Pike for John Brunett. Tommy Pike’s film crew was there to record the fabulous event. All in all it was a very memorable day for the Ridge Runner Corvettes club and for Burn’s Chevrolet. Many members took pictures that day and they are presented below in groupings of the person that took the pictures.
At the end of the celebration, Charlie Burns presented a check to Meals of Wheels for more than $10,000. The check represented the proceeds from the 100 days of giving campaign.
The cars were staged at Hamrick’s and sent over to Burns Chevrolet from oldest to newest. Some of the club members stopped at Plankowners Brewery on the way home for a little liquid and solid sustenance.
